Hand-Painted Barro Lidded Bowl | Red & Gold
Glossy cranberry red, scattered with rings of tiny white and golden dots, makes this cazuela look like it’s wrapped in embroidery. Each dotted rosette has a dark center, and the pattern flows across the bowl, the rim, the two side handles, and the domed lid, all the way up to the round knob. This is capulineado, the patient dotting technique from Mexico named for the small, dark capulín cherry. Every dot was placed one at a time, by hand, by skilled artisans in Mexico.
Made from barro (traditional Mexican clay), this cazuela has a wide, rounded body, two sculpted handles, and a fitted lid. A small notch in the edge of the lid lets a serving spoon rest inside while the dish stays covered. The shiny finish deepens the red and makes the dots stand out. Because every dot is painted by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Bring it to the table as a showpiece for rice, beans, salsa, or sides, or keep it on the counter or a shelf as a festive accent. The warm red and gold palette suits rustic, farmhouse, boho, and Mexican-inspired kitchens, and it’s a natural fit for holiday tables. It makes a memorable gift for housewarmings, weddings, Christmas, and anyone who loves to cook and entertain.
