Hand-Painted Barro Lidded Jar | Cobalt & White

Deep cobalt blue, glossy as the night sky, is covered in crisp white leaves and dotted medallions that look like blue-and-white porcelain painted in clay. Fans of tapered leaves rise on either side of round rosettes, small dotted flowers sit between them, and the pattern continues across the domed lid to a sculpted knob. This is capulineado, the patient dotting technique from Mexico named for the small, dark capulín cherry, paired here with hand-painted leaf motifs. Every dot and brushstroke was applied by hand by skilled artisans in Mexico.
