Hand-Painted Barro Pitcher | Purple Dotted Design
Rich amethyst purple, scattered with thousands of tiny white and navy dots, makes this jarra impossible to overlook. Rosettes of hand-placed dots bloom in horizontal bands around the body, and between them small white teardrop sprays rise like fountains. This is capulineado, the patient dotting technique from Mexico named for the small, dark capulín cherry. Every dot was applied one at a time by skilled artisans in Mexico.
Shaped from barro (traditional Mexican clay), the jarra has a full, rounded belly that narrows to a graceful neck and a curved pouring lip. A sturdy handle in the same deep purple makes it comfortable to hold and move. The matte finish keeps the natural feel of the clay, and the raw terracotta interior shows at the opening as a reminder of its earthy origins. Because the patterns are painted entirely by hand, each jarra is truly one of a kind.
Place it on a dining table, kitchen counter, or sideboard as a bold centerpiece, or fill it with dried flowers, pampas grass, or branches for a statement arrangement. The deep purple pairs beautifully with neutral, boho, eclectic, and Mexican-inspired decor. It makes a memorable gift for housewarmings, weddings, birthdays, and anyone who loves authentic handmade pieces.
