Hand-Painted Barro Spoon Rest | Gray & Coral
Soft warm gray is covered in white dots that gather into lacy rosettes, with tiny coral and navy centers that look like little flowers. A ribbon of rosettes runs down the handle channel, a ring of them frames the bowl, and a fine white border traces the whole edge. This is capulineado, the patient dotting technique from Mexico named for the small, dark capulín cherry. Every dot was placed one at a time, by hand, by skilled artisans in Mexico.
Made from barro (traditional Mexican clay), this spoon rest has a long, curved shape with a wide bowl at one end and a narrow channel at the other. It’s sized to hold a ladle or large spoon beside the stove, with space in the bowl to catch drips. The matte gray finish gives it a calm, modern look, and because each pattern is painted by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Keep it by the stove while you cook, or set it on a counter or table as a handmade accent. The soft neutral palette with coral accents suits modern, farmhouse, Scandinavian, boho, and Mexican-inspired kitchens. It makes a practical, beautiful gift for housewarmings, weddings, holidays, and anyone who loves to cook.
