Rich cranberry red is covered in rings of tiny white dots and golden rosettes that march down the center of this spoon rest like a ribbon. Fine white dots trim the rim, and clusters of dark accents add depth to the pattern. This is capulineado, the patient dotting technique from Mexico named for the small, dark capulín cherry. Every dot was placed one at a time, by hand, by skilled artisans in Mexico.

Made from barro (traditional Mexican clay), this spoon rest has a long, curved shape with a wide bowl at one end and a narrow channel at the other. It’s sized to hold a ladle or large spoon beside the stove, with space in the bowl to catch drips. The glossy red finish makes the white and gold dots stand out, and because each pattern is painted by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike.

Keep it by the stove while you cook, or set it on a counter or table as a festive accent. The warm red and gold palette complements rustic, farmhouse, boho, and Mexican-inspired kitchens. It makes a practical, colorful gift for housewarmings, weddings, holidays, and anyone who loves to cook.
