No one counts the dots. There are too many.
La Vase Capulineada is hand-sculpted from barro and decorated in the traditional Mexican style known as capulineado— a technique in which every single dot is placed by hand, one at a time, across the entire surface of the piece. Thousands of them. Charcoal grey, with scattered flecks of terracotta orange, swirling in rings that radiate outward from the center of the belly like ripples in still water.
The form beneath them is generous and round — a full, low globe with a short collar neck — shaped entirely by hand from raw Mexican earthenware clay. No two are alike. No machine was involved.
She does not need flowers to be beautiful.
